Taverham FC Under 9’s Newsletter - Edition 3
WELCOME !!!
Hi all, Its October already, where has the year gone !! So lots to talk about as always, the league is now well and truly in play and we also have a number of new players this season. Training sessions have been excellent and all boys have been enthusiastic and trained hard and hopefully you’re enjoying it as much as we are.
New Players We’d like to welcome Marco and Daniel to the club.
League Team We are now four games into the league and as most of you will be aware we have maintained a 100% unbeaten run. We have played a mixture of teams and so far the cliché of there’s no easy games is certainly true. At a high level the story so far is ….
Taverham 9 – Fakenham 0 - Good opening game in which we dominated for the 1st half, scoring 7, Jimmy in fine form to create a number of these openings and goals from Ben, Cam Ethan, Harry and Jimmy. Second half much closer with more attacks from Fakenham on our goal, couple of decent stops from George and two more goals from Josh made it 9-0.
Firside 3 – Taverham 4 – Very competitive game this one, chances both ends in the 1st half, some good defensive and attacking work from our lads meant we lead 4-1 at half time. Second half Firside dominated the first 10 and pulled the game back to 3-4 and through hard disciplined defensive work particularly from Harry we steadied the game to run out winners.
Taverham 6 – Sprowston 2 – Another good start from Taverham taking an early 3-0 lead before Sprowston pulled one back before the break from a breakaway goal. Second half again disciplined performance from Taverham, scoring 3 more and conceding 1, again through a breakaway attack
Toftwood 1 – Taverham 4 – This was a game of defenders v attackers for large parts, two good early goals from Ethan Warne gave Taverham a 2-0 lead. The second half was much the same lots of Taverham pressure, hitting woodwork, some good saves from the Toftwood keeper and clearances off the line kept the score low. We were unlucky to concede an own goal but all in all good performances from all of the team, notably Cam, Josh and Joseph lead to another win.
So all in all we could not have asked for a better league start, all boys involved have played there part not just those mentioned so well done lads and lets keep it going !!!
Hinks Meadow We have had news from the club that we will be returning this month to Hinks Meadow for all our home league and cup games. Given the investment and time the club has put into the Hinks project its great that we can make use of this facility however there are a few ground rules we need to follow as part of the Hinks surface is still being seeded and to allow this seed to take the following rules need to be complied with:
- No dogs are allowed
- All spectators, coaches, players to stay in the specified area by the pitches, this means we cannot have adults and children alike running around non-designated areas of the pitch
-
On match days there will be a coned area to direct you where and where not people can walk, if you do see someone outside of this area if you could either ask them to not to or alert Steve or I that would be great !! And finally ……
Saturday Training – We stated in the last newsletter we’d have a Saturday Training session every other week, at Felthorpe. Due to circumstances outside of out control we have been unable to do this and as such we’ve been unable to start these sessions. We are still committed to finding an alternative, possibly a public park and hope to launch something during October
Friendlies – I am actively trying to find two freindlies for October, see placeholder dates below for the new lads and for some of those players who are involved in the league team but have not had the opportunity to play and / or would like to try our new positions. As soon as I can confirm something I will send out an email asking for availability.
Up the Taverham U9’s !!!
