Taverham U9’s Half Term Report!
The under 9 team began their first competitive league season in September 2010 with high hopes and a degree of nervousness as only to be expected. The squad of players selected for the league have been with the section since Under 7’s, a number from U6’s and our a great bunch of lads. As they entered the season, expectations were high but realistic.
However, the season so far has proven to be beyond these expectations. Having played 12 games (11 league and 1 cup), not only have they gone unbeaten but all 12 have been straight wins. The squad have all played their part throughout the season, from front to back the commitment, desire and energy for each and every game has been immense.
Taverham boast the most goals scored in the division, with 66 and the joint least conceded only 9. Currently Cameron Makin is top scorer with 17, closely followed by Ethan Warne with 15. The midfield has been solid with James, Harry, Joseph and Josh having an exceptional season drawing large amounts of praise from opposing managers and between them scoring 30 goals.
At the back George, Ben and Jack have been solid, never pulling out of challenges, there’s been some important saves where required and generally keeping it tight at the back. Also worthy of a mention are the other players who have supported the squad, Samir (who has now left us and we wish him well) Ethan Reid and Connor who have been patient but when called upon been solid in their performance for the team and credit must go to these guys to.
In line with their performances, representatives from the squad were also invited to play at Colney by NCFC in a festival of football against some of the top teams from the region. Again this proved a challenge that the boys could match playing four games and emerging with four wins with every player showing they added something to the team.
Below is our current league record but if you want to know more about each game visit the Taverham FC website under the u9’s page look at our “newsletters” for a brief report on each game.

We now look to the rest of the season with high hopes, acknowledging we will be the team others want to beat but with the boys feet on the ground and the right attitude expectations are high.
And a U9’s update would not be complete with mentioning the other lads in the section, we have had several new boys join our training sessions and our developing well. We are already considering summer tournament’s and next season to develop these boys further and looking at the potential for two U10’s teams next year.
Personally on behalf of the management team I’d like to thank all the boys and the parents for their efforts and commitment and look forward to pushing on together.
Up the Taverham U9’s !!
