Fixture: 2/10/11

Score: Norwich Utd 2-8 Taverham

Report:

On what must be the hottest day of the year (30 degrees+) Taverham Lions travelled to Blofield to play Norwich United on a well enclosed and narrow pitch. The team started with Arly in goal for the first half and from kick off it was a very even game. An attack was made by Taverham with Ryan crossing the ball to Reece who shot but the ball came back to Ben from the keeper who then scored; 1-0 to the Lions.

Another attack by Taverham and after three or four passes through into the box Reece slots the ball past the keeper to get his first of the day; 2-0 Taverham. Another attack and Ryan hits the bar which would have been a lovely goal. The pressure continued and from outside the box Pierce shoots from the right across the keeper to hit the top left hand side of the net; 3-0 Lions. Norwich have another attack and Arly gets his hands to the ball but was unable to stop it going in.

Half Time Norwich United 1 – 3.

Taverham Lions Change of keeper for Taverham and Pierce becomes their number 1 for the second half but from kick off Norwich United have a shot from outside the box which bounced of 1 or 3 people which Pierce did not see due to the players in front of him and he’s picking the ball out of the net as his first touch of the game; 3-2 . From the restart Taverham played their normal passing game and Reece scores, 4-2 Taverham, and again Taverham attack with Alfie and Arly, and Reece is there again to score his hat trick, 5-2 Taverham.

Rio and Joe make some great tackles to keep Norwich at bay and a ball is passed forward and Reece scores again so now 6-2 to Taverham. After the restart Taverham are now on fire and Alfie picks the ball up and scores a cracker from outside the box (Goal of the Day) and the Norwich keeper had no chance of keeping out, 7-2 Taverham.

Norwich United attack from the restart and Pierce saves the ball and passes it to Arly who travels forward and crosses to Reece who scores his 5th of the day and makes it 8-2 to Taverham.

Full Time Norwich United 2 - 8 Taverham Lions

This result leaves Taverham Lions on top of the league with their next game at Home on 9th October against Wymondham who are in 3rd place and 4 points behind.
