Fixture: 29/1/12

Score: Taverham Tigers 3-1 Scole

Report:

A superb second half display from Tigers saw them take all 3 points against Scole and with Dereham dropping points for the second consecutive week Tigers once again sit proudly on top of the league.

It was certainly a game of 2 halves with a very even contest in the first half before Tigers got the bit between their teeth after the break as they played some of their best football for a few games, and while they will be a little disappointed not to have kept a clean sheet it was a very good 3 points. Tigers started brightly with Harry almost poaching a goal when the Scole keeper needed 2 attempts to gather a cross, but the action quickly switched to the other end and Archie produced a truly fantastic one handed save from a looping shot that looked destined for the top corner. It was good to see Jake back in the starting line up and it was he that crossed for Kieran but he lifted his effort over the bar. Scole were certainly giving as good as they got and Sam produced a great tackle as the visitors continued to threaten. Just as the first half came to a close Tigers had the best chance of the half when Kieran did well to get a shot away from a tight angle but the keeper just got a hand to his effort but it needed a defender to clear the ball off the line.

Half Time 0-0

Archie was quickly called into action to produce a good save before Tigers opened the scoring when Lewis broke free down the left and when he sent in his low cross there was Jay to fire Tigers into the lead. It got even better for Tigers when Jay doubled his goal tally when the Scole keeper failed to hold onto a low shot Sam then had to clear off the line before Kieran went agonisingly close went he raced onto a ball over the top from Lewis only to see his effort hacked off the line, and from the resulting corner Dylan sent a thumping header inches wide of the target. There was no holding Tigers and Kieran fired in a half volley from a Jamie corner. Scole scored a consolation goal in stoppage time and they nearly scored a second with almost the last kick of the game but Archie made it hat trick of great saves as Tigers took the win.

A good win and a good performance ahead of next weeks cup quarter final against Watton.
