Taverham 4 - Norman Wanderers 5

Taverham suffered a cruel defeat on Sunday, losing at home to Norman Wanderers by the odd goal in a superb match between two evenly matched teams.

Taverham started the match with a gale force wind at their backs, but soon went behind to a Norman goal. Undeterred, they fought back and were soon on level terms. The pattern of the match was established. Norman's second goal was cancelled out by another equaliser shortly before half time.

Norman re-established their lead with another goal ten minutes into the second half. Again, Taverham pressed hard and equalised five minutes later. Norman scored again within a minute of the re-start but Taverham refused to lie down. Another equaliser - end to end, exciting football.

Another goal by Norman, after 55 minutes. A determined home team tried hard for a fifth equaliser, but ran out of time.

Taverham's chief coach commented afterwards, "I was delighted by the team's commitment and Never Say Die attitude. The way the boys fought back time after time from going a goal behind was FANTASTIC." Referring to two particular incidents during the game, he said "The penalty save was BRILLIANT and the goal line clearance BREATHTAKING." He added "My only regret is that the boys went home unable to celebrate a win, or at least a draw." And finally, asked about another hat-trick by Bradley, he replied "We are running out of match balls, but that is not a problem I lose any sleep over!"
